How did it all start

Feng Shui also known as Chinese geomancy, is an ancient discipline, it has been used for thousands of years in ancient China. Feng shui literally translates from Chinese as “wind” (feng) and water (“shui”). Chinese wise people believed that there is a life force in everything – people, animals, plants, stones, water, and even furniture. They named this life force chi, and they believe that it was the cause of prosperity and that the lack of it could cause you to feel stuck or even to get sick. Fortunately, they came up with ways to activate your chi, and one of the ways is to organize your home according to Feng Shui principles. Did you know that in China whole towns and streets are made using these principles?

The purpose of Feng Shui

As we mentioned, the whole purpose of this methodology is to unblock your life energy and make it flourish. Spaces where we spend most of our time, and objects that we use daily, have a profound influence on our energy. It doesn’t matter whether it’s your home or your office – these principles are universal. Feng Shui meaning could be different for everyone – some people want to attract more abundance in their life, others want love, while some people just need more space so that they can think clearly and create. Feng Shui can help you get those things, by strategically placing your furniture and decorations. As you can see, Feng Shui is much more than simply decorating your apartment. It’s about opening yourself to prosperity, by decluttering and creating harmony in your home.

Feng Shui today

As mentioned, Feng Shui started in China but it’s now used worldwide. Some people hire Feng Shui experts before they move to a new apartment or house. A Feng Shui specialist can help you determine where to position your rooms, based on the purpose you want to use them for. According to Feng Shui, you need completely different things in your working area, your bedroom, and your kitchen. One of the most famous Feng Shui principles is that your bed should be facing North if you want to have a good rest. Another aspect that is very important has to do with your front door. That is where the energy enters your house, and you should pay special attention to it. Feng Shui experts state that your front door must be bigger and different from all other doors in the house. You should declutter your entrance so that energy can enter your home and flow freely.

However, there is no need to redecorate your whole house, if you are not ready for it. You can start with small steps and adjustments. For example, plants play an important role in Feng Shui philosophy. But you should be very careful when deciding where to position them, depending on the outcome you want. If you want to attract wealth and prosperity, you should put a bamboo plant in the Eastern part of your home. Another thing you can do is start decluttering because that is one of the first principles. If your house is cluttered, the energy simply can’t enter inside. You will see that a decluttered house has a positive impact on your ability to focus and concentrate.

Does Feng Shui actually work?

Some people are skeptic about whole this philosophy and they are not sure whether it really works. However, there are many stories of people who attracted harmony, peace, abundance, and even love, using these principles. Feng Shui principles may seem simple at first, but there are many books, both ancient and modern, that thoroughly explain the subject. If you are not sure, start small with just a couple of changes and see how it makes you feel. Of course, don’t expect overnight changes, give it some time. and be patient. You may get amazing results, but even if you don’t, you can experiment with your house interior. One thing is sure: changes like these boost your creativity and focus!
